Did anyone go through labour and forget to get pain relief?
Posted By Admin on February 6, 2012
I just wondered if anyone else found labour so distracting that they couldn’t think of anything else, including pain relief.
I really wanted to try gas and air and had planned to, and the midwife had some with her that I could have used if I had remembered it existed!
I was very quiet and very calm and totally in my own head, and totally just forgot that there was such a thing as pain relief.
Has anyone else done this? I know it sounds weird!

I didn’t forget about pain relief, I just chose not to get any. It really wasn’t that bad. Good for you for doing it naturally!
TRUST ME- THERE WILL BE NO WAY TO FORGET ABOUT PAIN RELIEF IF THAT IS WHAT YOU WERE WNATING TO DO….IF NOT THEN KEEP UP THE MENTAL STRENGTH AND GO ALL NATURAL!!!!!
forgot to ask, no.
went too fast to get any, yes!
found out I coulld do it all natural, heck yeah!!
i just slept thro the whole thing WITHOUT pain relief

who is the baby , the one being born or the one giving birth
hey i wouldnt say “forgot” lol
But with my 2 boys i tended to labour very quickly so didnt have chance to have any pain releif
I had gas and air through my labour towards the end (last hour or so as the final bit of dilation was happening) but before that I coped at home with nothing. I was 9 cm by the time I got to hospital.
I then forgot all about it once the actual birth was happening and for the second stage, which lasted about 90 minutes I was far too busy giving birth to think about it!!
No, I didnt forget about pain relief because the midwife kept offering me all sorts of different things and I kept knocking all but the gas and air and the birthing pool back. That was with my first, with my second I made sure that I had clearly stated in my birth plan that I didnt want anything other than gas and air for pain relief as well as the water in the birthing pool so not to bother even asking me if I wanted any and they didnt. Im glad I didnt go for pethedine or an epidural and I would do everything the same if I have any more.
